Intimate Encounters: Setting The Mood

February 24th, 2008

In the first stages of a relationship sparks and chemistry were all you needed for intimate encounters. There was rarely a time when the two of your weren’t in the mood. After time, these things start to fade as you get to know one another and settle into a routine, intimate encounters become fewer. This list has small details that together will work to set a romantic mood in a big way and help create some intimate encounters.

Ambiance
Bright lights make for an industrial, commercial feel. No light at all can be awkward. However, low lighting is perfect for setting the mood. It is intimate and romantic. This is why candles are so often associated with romance. You do not have to run around lighting candles to set the mood. If you have a dimmer on the light, turn the lighting to a soft glow. Small lamps or bulbs with lower wattage can also help set the mood.

Sounds
Background noise plays a big part in setting the mood. Noisy distractions and some TV programs do not enhance romantic feelings. Soft music or romantic movies can be great for adding to the mood.

Scents
Fragrances have more to do with setting the mood than you may think. Any foul odors can put a damper on setting the mood. Flowers and candles add to the fragrances in the room. However, a diffuser or plug-in air freshener will spread an inviting and pleasant scent.

Space
You will both feel more comfortable in your space if it is clean and uncluttered, so take a few minutes for a quick pick-up and surface wipe down.

Whisper Sweet Nothings
Speaking of sounds, she will love to hear the things you whisper in her ear. Talk sweet to each other as an outward sign of your love.

Dress the Part
Everyone knows that men are visually stimulated, she will also appreciate a little eye candy. Show a little skin, and snuggle up close.

Caress
Small touches, light caressing and massaging increase sensory levels. Touch is a very important component to a relationship and showing love. Something as simple as a hand or head massage can be romantic and a treat for her.
